A Memorable Picnic Experience at Texas Gaushala

Updated: 4 days ago

A Day of Fun and Connection

On Saturday, June 14, 2025, the South Houston Vibhag Bala team organized a delightful picnic at the Texas Gaushala. The event ran from 8:30 AM to 12:30 PM and welcomed 113 attendees, including 44 children from the South Houston Vibhag in HSS.

The day began with a refreshing yoga session, followed by invigorating exercises. These activities set a positive tone for the rest of the day. Afterward, we transitioned into outdoor games, known as "khel." Participants were divided into groups: kids (balas), teenagers (kishores), adult men (swayamsevak), and adult women (sevikas).

Engaging Outdoor Games

The games were a source of laughter and joy. We played classics like "5 Pass," "Tug-of-War," and "Ram vs. Ravaan." Each game fostered teamwork and camaraderie, allowing everyone to bond in a spirited environment.

Cow Cuddling and Feeding

Next, we enjoyed a unique experience: cow cuddling. Volunteers guided participants in brushing and petting the cows. This gentle interaction created a warm atmosphere, allowing us to connect with these magnificent creatures. Following this, we had cow feeding. Volunteers distributed bowls filled with fresh carrots and apples, which everyone eagerly offered to the cows.

Trivia Fun

After the animal interactions, we engaged in a lively trivia game. Participants were split into five teams, answering questions related to the Gaushala, Mahabharat, Ramayana, and Sangh. The trivia not only tested our knowledge but also sparked discussions and laughter among friends and family.

A Delicious Lunch

As the event drew to a close, we gathered for a delicious lunch. The menu featured aloo sabji, poori, raita, and refreshing mango milkshake. Each bite was a reminder of the rich flavors of our culture.

In summary, the picnic at Texas Gaushala was a resounding success. It was a day filled with laughter, learning, and connection. I felt grateful to be part of such a wonderful community event, where we celebrated life, nature, and our shared heritage.

The Importance of Community and Nature

In today's fast-paced world, it's essential to take a step back and appreciate the beauty around us. Events like these remind us of the importance of community and nature. They foster connections not just among people but also between us and the animals that share our world.

At Texas Gaushala, we aim to be a leading sanctuary for indigenous cows and farm animals. Our mission is to promote their well-being and highlight their cultural and spiritual significance. By hosting events like this picnic, we hope to grow community support through unique experiences and educational programs. This ensures the long-term sustainability of our compassionate environment.

Join Us for Future Events

We invite everyone to join us for future events at Texas Gaushala. Together, we can create more memories, deepen our connections, and foster a greater understanding of the animals that enrich our lives.

Let’s continue to celebrate the beauty of nature and the joy of community. I look forward to seeing you at our next gathering!
