About the event

Holi is celebrated on the last full moon day of the Hindu lunar month of Phalguna, which usually falls in February or March in the Gregorian calendar. The night before Holi, bonfires are lit to symbolize the burning of Holika, an evil demoness, and the victory of good over evil.

Apart from its religious significance, Holi has cultural and social significance as well. It's a time for people to come together, forget differences, and celebrate unity and brotherhood. Holi is also associated with the legend of Radha and Krishna, where the playful and mischievous antics of Krishna with his consort Radha became a model for the playful and colorful aspects of the festival.

Holi is a popular Hindu festival celebrated primarily in India and Nepal, but also observed in various other parts of the world with Hindu communities. It marks the arrival of spring and the triumph of good over evil. The festival is known for its vibrant colors, music, and joyous atmosphere.

The main ritual of Holi involves people gathering together, smearing each other with colored powders and water, and engaging in playful activities. It's often called the "Festival of Colors" for this reason. People also sing and dance to traditional Holi songs, exchange sweets, and enjoy festive foods.
